5 Easy Self Management Steps That Gave Me My Time Back
First, there is no such thing as time management because you have no control of time. Therefore, you cannot change time and you are not accountable for time. Time is none of your business.
You do, however, have control of, accountability for, and can change yourself; so I only write and provide coaching on self-management — which is your business.
Here are 5 quick steps you can take today to prioritize yourself as the primary asset needed to serve yourself and others in whatever way you choose because if you’re not happy, you’re not helping.
- List your top 3 goals.
- List activities that describe how you currently manage yourself in a 24 hour period. In other words, make a list of how and where you currently place your body, attention, and resources (e.g., where you spend money/ how and where you spend effort/ how, where, and with whom you spend time).
- Map each activity in #2 (your current self-management strategy) to your top 3 goals.
- Evaluate your current self-management strategy and make adjustments where necessary. Don’t be afraid to become a professional disappointer and say “no” to situations, people, things, and thoughts that compromise your happiness, authenticity, and your time.
- Plan the next 24 hours.
Remember, you are just as important as the people you love, respect and admire. So, make a consistent effort to value what’s important.
What are you trying to achieve? How are you getting there? Can I help?
